What role do you believe religion will play in the next hundred years?

Since the biggest "religious minority" in the United States is Non-religious and Atheism standing at 16.1% and the dwindling christian majority in Western Europe. Will society be more like Japan,China, and North and South Korea just who all have pretty outstanding societies. I mostly adhere to Buddhism. I want to know will religion stay and take a back seat to progression??
