Is diversity training in public schools misguided?
When teaching children in public schools is it necessary to talk about the details of what others believe? It seems to me that teaching that all students, no matter what their beliefs are, should be treated equally and one standard of behavior toward all people is what is required should be the rule by which all students must adhere to. Going into the details of what those differences are or the details of diversity is irrelevant and leads students to focus on those differences more. Treating all people with respect is what unites people. Focusing on what is different be it race, religion or sexual preference tents to lead students to judge people more not less. Your thoughts?
