What's the limit on "anachronism" in interior design?

No, I don't think you're hurtling towards disaster. The 17th and 18th century periods already had some influence from the east. Or as they called it, the Orients. Granted, I know more about that being on the English side, like the Victorian era, though that's a bit more 19th century. Still, just use your judgement and it should be fine. Also, it really helps to have visuals, so I'm only going off by your description. What I'd suggest is maybe printing out some of the things you want and taping them to the wall so you can see what you like or what idea needs to be scrapped.
