I need to get a Victorian License and i need to know will i loose it straight away?

Hi i am an Irish male and have been living in melbourne for 2.5 years. I have been driving on my Irish full license in that time and as you can imagine i have been "had" by various speed cameras both stationary and unmarked cars, its never been anything serious but i know ive reciueved� about 14 demerit points, i have now recieved my permant residency and need to get a victorian licence but im scared that the points from my irish license will carry through and ill be banned from driving which means i cant work!!! others have told me they cant carry over the points you start fresh on your new license??? Can somebody please help me clear up this issue before i crack up!!! thank you for your time
