My dog had an extra porcupine quill in his neck (vet missed it) which turned into an infection the size of a baseball. Vet has lanced and placed a drain in his neck. I'm supposed to hot compress every a.m. and p.m. and "wiggle' the drain each time. Has anyone else done this and have any advice? I've read that the hot compress should be placed for 10-15 minutes but didn't receive a specific time frame from the vet. Any past experience tips would be helpful. This is a nightmare. Thanks.
